I have an old 2007 iMac that has a broken operating system. I am automatically redirected to recovery mode on it, and try to reinstall MacOS Yosemite, but it was used and we don't know the apple id to fix it, and it keeps throwing the error 'this item is temporarily unavailable'. The good news is that I have a MacBook Air 2020 that works perfectly fine, but we can't seem to install OS X El Capitan 10.11 on it because it keeps saying 'update not found. the requested version of macos is not available.' on the Mac App Store. Here is the link I tried to install it from:https://apps.apple.com/app/os-x-el-capitan/id1147835434?mt=12I need to install this on my computer first and then use the 'createinstallmedia' command in terminal to load it onto a USB flash drive.PS: I have tried installing the dmg of this and restoring to the USB in Disk Utility but it did not load in startup mode when you restart your mac and press and hold 'option' and I don't wan't to go through the pain of doing it this way again;Ok, my question: How do I fix this 'update not found' error when trying to install El Capitan from the Mac App Store on my 2020 MacBook Air?Thanks!

Clean Install of Sierra or El Capitan on a Clean Disk. Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the Command-Option-R keys until a globe appears. The Utility Menu will appear in from 5-20 minutes. Select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Dude, you are a savior! I am running El Capitan on a MBP 5,1 and tried dosdude1 hack to reach High Sierra but got an issue during the installation and my machine did not work anymore. With your dmg I was able to reinstall El Capitan over my crippled version and all is good again. Thank you a thousand times! Pedro September 21, 2019 at 5:57 PM Reply.

- I held down COMMAND + R, went to Disk Utilities and unmounted then erased the harddrive. Then I went to reinstall mac os. It was on El Capitan. It asks me to connect to WiFi, I do. Then after a few clicks it asks to login Apple ID. After I try to do that, it says This Item is Temporarily.
- Command-R reinstall of OSX El Capitan on mid-2009 MacBook Pro after a hardrive erase. Repeated installation requests results in this message: “This item is temporarily available. Try again later.” Hopefull this is not forever as this is the highest OS compatible for this MacBook. Any suggestions on when this OSX will be available?
